With the Global Recession straining operational budgets and the threat of a 'double dip' looming, Corporations and Businesses are being forced to compromise when it comes to operational security management costs. The strain can be felt even more when an organization has been unable to build security costs into their winning proposal and the cost of any security management has to come from overheads. This situation can lead to reluctance by organizations to invest in risk and security management as it can become seen as an expensive overhead rather than an operational asset.
That said, the cost of having to respond to an incident or crisis with no infrastructure in place at all however, can very quickly become damaging, not only in financial terms, but can put the continuity of the project, the successful delivery of contracted deliverables and the good reputation of the organization at considerable risk.
The organizations we engage with fully understand both sides of the argument but can sometimes struggle with finding a cost effective way forwards. In order to support these organizations, BSG created a new, streamlined and fixed price Six Week Security Management Package.
The BSG Six Week Security Management Package is a combination of both written deliverables (a Security Management Plan (SMP)) and physical activities delivered to projects located in austere, remote, high risk and/or hostile environments over a 6 week period, for a fixed price.
The package is flexible in its application, but it is typically pitched at projects that are manned with a core of senior expatriate management, have anywhere up to 100-150 staff either in a Headquarters located in a town or city and/or with several outstations located around a country/ region.
The content of the Six Week Security Management Package is entirely modular and if there is a written deliverable or physical activity that is not appropriate to the project then it can be replaced with a relevant deliverable or removed.
The standard content is as follows:
6 Week Plan Written Deliverables: A collection of bespoke security policies, instructions and guidelines designed to meet a wide spectrum of risks and threats faced by projects all over the world. The written SMP is thorough and robust, and comes with realistic recommendations that are achievable in the operating environment the particular project is operating in. If applicable the client's home office also receives a succinct report on completion of the package with observations and recommendations observations made during the Field Managers time with the project.
The content of the BSG SMP includes but is not limited to the following:
6 Week Plan Physical Activities: These are entirely dependent on what the project requires but typically the physical activities consist of:
